Tottenham remain keen on prodigious talent amid standoff with Real Madrid

Tottenham could battle it out with Premier League clubs for the loan signing of Real Madrid talent.

After helping Tottenham Hotspur avoid relegation on the final day last term, Roberto De Zerbi was backed heavily in the transfer market by the club’s hierarchy to turn the situation around.

Still, Spurs endured an underwhelming start to the season and went six games without a win. Things have started changing since October, with the Lilywhites winning three consecutive games ahead of their tricky test at Leeds United.

The North Londoners brought in Savio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City in the summer to bolster their attacking unit. However, Savio has struggled with injury problems, while Marmoush has managed only one league goal thus far. So, it appears Spurs have already started exploring options to strengthen the frontline next year.

Tottenham remain keen on talented forward amid standoff with Real Madrid

It has been widely reported that Real Madrid’s prodigious talent Endrick is one of several names on Tottenham’s striker shortlist, as De Zerbi looks to add some firepower to his forward line in January. The capital-based outfit are believed to be keeping a close eye on the Brazilian’s situation in Madrid.

Endrick has struggled to establish himself in Jose Mourinho’s plans this season, despite returning to Real Madrid following an impressive loan spell at Lyon. The Brazilian international was introduced during Wednesday’s dramatic 3-2 Champions League victory over AEK Athens, featuring on the right flank as Real Madrid staged a comeback to maintain their perfect record in the competition.

Mourinho insisted last month that it was “impossible” for the 20-year-old to be loaned out in January; yet that hasn’t stopped clubs from circling the player. According to an exclusive report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are among the Premier League clubs showing ‘concrete interest’ in signing Endrick. They are ready to accept a straight loan deal without an option to buy.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also firmly in the race for the former Palmeiras starlet’s signature. The report adds that the versatile attacker’s representatives are already sounding out suitors ahead of January as they look for a temporary exit route from Madrid.

Spurs must try their best to sign Endrick on loan

The 20-year-old has managed only a handful of appearances and one goal since returning from loan in the summer, with injuries hampering his season’s start. The Brazilian is desperate for more action, and if his situation in Madrid doesn’t change much, he could force another loan exit.

Endrick is a left-footed striker but can provide cover on the right flank. Although he has failed to break into Real Madrid’s star-studded first XI, he previously showcased his qualities on loan for Lyon in the second half of last season.

Tottenham could do with a player with the South American’s goalscoring ability and dynamism, even if it will be a temporary arrangement. However, with several clubs in the race and some capable of offering him European football, the Lilywhites will face an uphill task to convince Endrick to become part of De Zerbi’s squad.
