Rotherham United’s Head Coach Alex Bruce said he thought the supporters in the ground today got their money’s worth after seeing six goals and two red cards. He also said he thought there was a bit of connection today between the supporters and the players.
Speaking to Radio Sheffield after his Millers team drew three-all with Shrewsbury Town the Millers Boss said, ‘It was a strange game with a lot going on. We started the game well and went two goals up. Then we got the sending off and conceded straight after it and you think ‘oh my god’ with seventy-odd minutes left and ten v eleven it’s going to be a long afternoon. Then when it went three-two I thought the resilience and the desire to get back into the game was something that really pleased me.
‘Of course I wanted three points but with the circumstances I’d have taken a point when it went three-two to them. And, at the end of the game their manager told me he was pleased with a point.
‘I think the supporters could see it was a proper South Yorkshire performance where the players dug in and had a go.
‘We’ve all seen the good signs after our three bad performances last week and we’ve responded quite well to them. We threw the one on Tuesday night away through stupid mistakes although today’s was a little bit different. From what I’ve seen in the past couple of weeks and with players coming back I’m alright.’
What about his players today?
‘I thought Paul Mullin was excellent today. He did a lot of running when we were down to ten men and his two finishes, particularly the first one when he lifts it over the goalkeeper was top drawer.’
And Dominic Iorfa who had to go off. ‘He’s got a head knock but I think he’ll be OK for next week.’
Some news about George Lloyd who was stretchered off in the same incident is that he’s doing OK and was walking around but his club are waiting for the medical team.
