Charlie Woods told dad Tiger 'I'm broke' despite crazy net worth

Charlie Woods, son of golf legend Tiger Woods, has a huge estimated net worth.

Charlie Woods' life may not be quite what it appears to be, from his financial situation to his achievements. The 17-year-old is the son of PGA Tour icon Tiger Woods and has been striving to establish his own reputation in the sport, competing in tournaments and facing off against some of the finest young golfers. However, not everything has gone smoothly for Charlie as he navigates the challenges of becoming a golfing talent.

Due to his surname, many assume that Charlie is already financially secure and will have a straightforward path in golf. Yet, not everything is as it appears for the teenager, particularly in recent competitions...

Charlie Woods' net worth

As Charlie progresses in the golfing world, there was a moment in December 2024 that thrust his family and career life firmly into the spotlight. After recording his first hole-in-one with his father watching, a remark the younger Woods made created a stir.

"You're buying [a round of drinks] for everyone out here," the golf legend was overheard telling his son as they celebrated the achievement.

Charlie responded: "I'm not buying. I'm broke" - prompting fans to question precisely what the emerging star's net worth was, given he is the son of arguably the greatest golfer of all time.

Charlie's net worth is estimated at £18.7million ($25m), according to Sportskeeda. Furthermore, the 17-year-old is believed to have a trust fund, with £14.9m ($20m) having reportedly been transferred to him and his older sister, Sam Woods, by their father.

The teenager is also expected to inherit two properties in Florida and California upon reaching 21. As he pursues his golfing ambitions, Charlie seems to have secured several sponsorship arrangements, having worn clothing from the brand Greyson during competitions.

The 17-year-old has also donned his father's label, Sun Day Red, throughout his brief career thus far. It's evident that the teenager is financially comfortable, though he has encountered difficulties on the course.

Charlie's struggles

As he continues to establish himself, the younger Woods has not yet achieved the same heights as his father. Recently, the teenager was unable to qualify for the US Amateur at Ohio State University's Scarlet Course, a tournament that Tiger captured three times.

Charlie posted five-over 76 and fell short of the cut by six strokes, carrying his own bag throughout the round and competing against 80 other golfers. Following the disappointment, the youngster shifted his focus to the US Junior Amateur, though it seemed his difficulties accompanied him to Pennsylvania.

Charlie's attempt to reach match play concluded in frustrating fashion Wednesday morning when a spectator's camera shutter clicked in the middle of his backswing during a crucial playoff hole.

At that point, he had secured a place in a 14-for-2 sudden-death playoff having carded rounds of 76 and 70 across two days of stroke play, finishing joint 63rd amongst the 264-strong field.

The leading 64 golfers progressed straight through to match play, and as he prepared his third shot, the loud click of a camera rang out mid-backswing.

Having fluffed his shot, all he could muster was "Really, dude?" while another voice from the gallery chimed in: "Right in his swing."

He failed to sink the birdie putt from 35 feet and dropped a bogey on the hole, bringing his tournament to a close. During the same event, the teen was caught on camera kicking his club away following a wayward drive, laying bare just how exasperating the whole ordeal had been for him.
