With the regular season nearing its end, several Baton Rouge area schools are still holding strong in the LSWA poll.

In Class 5A, Catholic re-entered the top 10 at No. 10 after its 70-38 victory over Zachary on the road. The win marks the Bears’ third straight to get to 4-3.

Madison Prep rose one spot to No. 5 in the LSWA Class 4A top-10 poll. The Chargers (5-2) took a big step toward a District 6-4A title after their 53-20 win over Brusly. Madison Prep will play St. Michael this week, which received votes in the Class 4A poll.

In Class 3A, University High (5-2) has shaken off its 0-2 start. The Cubs rose one spot to No. 2 after a 62-0 victory over Collegiate Baton Rouge. The Cubs will take on West Feliciana, which is No. 7 in the Class 3A poll after a 49-0 win over Port Allen moved the Saints to 7-0.

Two other sides ranked in the top 10 of Class 3A are St. James and Lutcher. The Bulldogs (5-2) defeated the Wildcats (5-2) 35-20 on Friday night. Lutcher rose from outside the top 10 to No. 9 after the win. St. James dropped four spots to No. 6.

Dunham (4-3) stayed put at No. 6 in Class 2A after its 35-6 victory over Donaldsonville.

In Class 1A, Ascension Catholic (7-0) remained No. 2 after a 26-21 win against St. Martin’s. No. 5 Southern Lab (7-0) and No. 6 Kentwood (7-0) also remain unchanged in the rankings after their respective Week 7 wins.
