Sixers star LeBron James talks sipping fan's wine, home win over Bulls

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James is certainly having a good time in his first season in the City of Brotherly Love. As the Sixers were racing ahead of the young and rebuilding Chicago Bulls on Monday, James had a viral moment with a fan in the stands.

After trying to chase down a pass from Tyrese Maxey that flew over his head and out of bounds, James ran after the pass into the stands, and took a sip of a fan's beverage. The fan's name was Troy Clemens, per ESPN's Kris Rhim, and James explained the interaction after the 126-107 win over the Bulls to help the Sixers improve to 7-1 on the season.

"I spilled some of his wine," laughed James after the win. "I crashed into him, spilled some of his wine. So, I wanted to see if it was worth it. It was on my arm, man. I bet it was. It was all right. It was all right."

It's a long season. The NBA is an 82-game grind. If anybody in this league has earned a little moment to joke around, it's James in year 24 and being able to take advantage of a little break in the action.

"Listen, I mean, it's a long marathon," James said after the win. "If you don't find ways to have fun throughout it, even though you're working, even though you're locked in, then it can wear on you, you know? So, for me, especially at this point in my career, too, being able to just appreciate the moments, the small moments, and these fans are great to us. We try to be great to them as well by playing the game the right way, playing the game hard, and then also just being showmen as well, but it was a game for us. We continue to build and continue to get better."

As for the game itself, James had 15 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds. He had quite a few moments where it felt like he had eyes in the back of his head with the passes he was able to make. He did a fantastic job of getting his teammates involved and the Sixers benefited from it as Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Dean Wade were all able to have success.

"I thought early on, I mean, I think defensively, we were really good," James explained. "We held them to not too many second-chance points, and it allowed us to get out and run. We have great receivers like Reese and VJ, JB, and the rest of the guys. I just try to put the ball on time and on target, and they was able to capitalize."

The Sixers will now hit the road to begin a 3-game road trip on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons.
