Zian Flemming may have left Millwall more than two years ago, but his recent move to Ipswich could still prove significant for the Championship side.
The Dutchman completed the switch to Portman Road from Burnley at the end of the summer transfer window, after completing two seasons at Turf Moor following his Millwall departure.
And, having previously earned a substantial fee from that initial deal, the Lions could yet be in line for another financial reward.
Flemming has started well in the Premier League this term, building on his 12 goals registered during Burnley's relegation last season, and Millwall will be more than happy to see him do so.
As per the South London Press, Millwall included a sell-on clause when Flemming's move to the Clarets became permanent in May 2025. ]
He initially joined on loan the year before, with an obligation to buy included in the agreement.
This came to fruition at the end of the 2024/25 term for a fee of around £7 million, with Flemming scoring 14 goals in all competitions as the Lancashire club were promoted to the Premier League under Scott Parker.
Alongside the £7m fee, Millwall also negotiated a percentage of any future sale, which has now become particularly relevant after his top-flight exploits with the Clarets last term, resulting in the move to newly-promoted Ipswich at the end of the transfer window.
After a reasonable start to life in the Premier League, Ipswich completed the signing of Flemming on deadline day for an initial £17m fee, with an extra £3m available, depending on certain conditions being met.
No figure is confirmed, but the South London Press did report back in 2025 that there is a clause in place that leaves the Lions entitled to a fee.

If this were to sit at a common sell-on clause number of 10 per cent for example, Millwall could have raked in just under £2m from the transfer, while this could have been £3.4m if the figure is 20 per cent.
It remains unclear as to whether the Lions' entitlement includes the £3m in bonuses, or whether a payment was to be made when the deal was done, however, the important thing is that there was indeed a clause in place.
Back in 2022, Millwall signed Flemming from Fortuna Sittard for a fee of £1.7m, before he quickly established himself as one of the club's standout performers.
While the Lions are not the club benefiting from his 2026 sale, identifying Flemming is yet another example of why Millwall are where they are as a club in 2026, with their business in the transfer market standing out once again.
Plus, the £5.3m profit made in 2024 brought a timely return on their investment, while there was a nice bonus thrown in should he move on from Burnley.
And now, with the transfer potentially reaching £20 million, even a relatively modest percentage will be a more than useful additional sum for Millwall, as they look to finally assert themselves as one of the division's top sides after reaching the playoffs last season.
