LSU women's basketball dominates SE Louisiana in first game

LSU women's basketball began its 2026-27 season on a high note. The Tigers blew out Southeastern Louisiana 129-35 on Monday inside the PMAC. Head coach Kim Mulkey got all of her available players into the game in the first quarter.

LSU's starting five was Grace Knox, Jada Williams, ZaKiyah Johnson, Mikaylah Williams and MiLaysia Fulwiley. Six players finished in double figures, led by Johnson, who led all scorers with a career-high 33 points. She notched a double-double by adding 13 rebounds. Fulwiley followed with 20 points, and Williams added 19 points, 15 of which came from three-point range.

LSU finished shooting 55.8% from the field. Its best shooting quarter came in the opener with a 61.9% field goal percentage. The Tigers scored 45 second-chance points off of 31 offensive rebounds. They added 48 points off of 38 turnovers by the Lions along with 29 fast-break points. Every player helped turn defense into offense by running the floor and staying true to the fast-paced brand of basketball Mulkey likes to play.

Monday marked the official debut of multiple newcomers to the LSU roster. Lola Lampley and Anna Minaeva each scored 14 points. Minaeva recorded a double-double by adding 10 rebounds. Laila Reynolds totaled eight points and seven rebounds.

LSU hits the court next against Texas Southern. The two sides will tipoff on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. CT inside the PMAC.
