Xabi Alonso has promised a very different Chelsea team to finish the season compared to the one that started it.

Another Friday means another Xabi Alonso press conference at Cobham, and with a huge rivalry game against Spurs on the horizon there were some tasty questions.
When Chelsea had a run of four games without a win before the international break, the criticism the coach was starting to get was that people weren’t seeing much of his effect on the team. But speaking in an interview with Sky this week, the Basque claimed the Chelsea you see now will be different to the one you see in May. So what’s going to change?
“I know that it will be different, but to tell you how it’s going to be, it’s difficult,” the ever-cagey Alonso explained.
“We go almost game by week. Our side is in a very short period of time. Now, for mine, it’s almost just until Sunderland, until this international break. We have three Premier League games, one cup game, so that’s my focus.
“But knowing that along the way there will be good things, other things that we have done well, we have corrected, and still many more things to discover on this long journey that we have in this first year.”
So far we already see promising signs. By May we could be looking at a pretty fearsome outfit.
Chelsea’s manager was asked about how he felt having to play a debutant in goal tomorrow, and the coach claimed he has full confidence in Mike Penders.
Alonso ruled out defender Pep Chavarria with an injury – but did confirm another option would be back on the bench.
