A moment of unexpected levity broke through a tense on-field confrontation at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on November 1, 2026, when Afghanistan's Rashid Khan Arman responded to a verbal clash with Zimbabwe's Ryan Ponsonby Burl by blowing a flying kiss in his direction. The gesture came during the 3rd T20I of the Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe 2026/27 series, a match that Afghanistan ultimately controlled from start to finish. It drew wide attention given the visible intensity of the confrontation before Rashid's lighthearted response.
The sequence began when Burl, batting for Zimbabwe, attempted a reverse sweep off Rashid's bowling and missed, taking a blow on the front pad in line with the stumps. An LBW appeal followed but was turned down by the umpire. Three deliveries later, the two players exchanged sharp words on the field, and on-field umpire Ahmad Shah Pakteen had to step in to separate them. When the over concluded, hostilities resumed briefly, requiring the second on-field umpire, Farooq Khan, to intervene once more. It was at this point that Rashid chose to defuse the tension with the flying kiss gesture directed at Burl.

The series was played without a DRS system, and several umpiring decisions in the match drew scrutiny, including the one that eventually ended Burl's innings. He was dismissed lbw off Abdollah Ahmadzai for 30 off 29 balls, which included five fours, making him Zimbabwe's top scorer on the day.
Zimbabwe's innings had unravelled quickly at Sharjah. Innocent Kaia fell at 8 in the 0.6th over, Brian Bennett followed at the same total in the 1.1st over, and Sikandar Raza departed at 13 in the 3.2nd over. Burl steadied things briefly, hitting back-to-back boundaries off Omarzai in the fifth over, the second of which was a length ball slapped over mid-on for four. Despite that resistance, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 79 in 14.3 overs.
Noor Ahmad was the standout performer with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 13 runs, a return that marked his first five-wicket haul in T20I cricket. Rashid himself bowled 2 overs and conceded 7 runs without taking a wicket.
Afghanistan's chase was brief and decisive. They reached the target of 80 in just 8.1 overs, finishing at 80 for 3. Ibrahim Zadran anchored the reply with an unbeaten 25, and Afghanistan crossed the line with 7 wickets in hand, completing a 3-0 series sweep.
