Historic nine-darter sees Thatcham darts prodigy Archie Self smash record and secure World Championship spot

Thatcham sensation Archie Self has etched his name into the history books after an extraordinary week on the oche.

Self became the youngest player ever to hit a televised nine-dart finish before claiming the MODUS Super Series title and qualifying for the PDC World Darts Championship.

The 16-year-old prodigy, nicknamed "The Archer," achieved the holy grail of darts live on Pluto TV during the MODUS Super Series Champions Week in Portsmouth.

Self pinned a perfect nine-dart finish during the opening leg against Daniel Ayres.

At 16 years and 345 days old, he officially broke the record previously held by Luke Littler (16 years, 363 days).

The mid-week milestone set the foundation for a dominant run at the venue.

Self topped Group A to reach Saturday night's Champions Week finale, where he defeated Andy Baetens 4–2 to lift the trophy and collect the £25,000 top prize – becoming the youngest champion in the competition's history.

To top off his memorable week, the West Berkshire teenager confirmed his qualification for the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship at London's iconic Alexandra Palace.

There, he will line up alongside the world's elite, including reigning world champion Luke Humphries.

There is no rest for the Thatcham youngster, who traveled straight from Portsmouth to compete in the ADC Global Championship before heading to Leicester for PDC ProTour action.
