Arsenal maintained their pursuit of the Premier League summit with a convincing 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates Stadium, drawing level on points with Manchester City and reinforcing the impression that Mikel Arteta’s side are gathering momentum.

Goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel secured three valuable points, while a combination of defensive authority and midfield invention ensured Everton spent much of the afternoon struggling to establish themselves.

Arsenal Defence Sets Premier League Standard

Arsenal’s defensive resilience has become one of their defining qualities, and Gabriel delivered another commanding performance. The Brazilian dominated Thierno Barry physically, attacked challenges with conviction and capped an outstanding display with a powerful second-half header.

Konsa had already opened the scoring, ending Arsenal’s surprising run of 13 matches without a set-piece goal. His contribution extended beyond that breakthrough, with his pace and positional awareness helping to neutralise Everton’s attacking threat.

Myles Lewis-Skelly also impressed, offering composure in possession and the confidence to escape pressure in difficult areas. His performance provided further evidence of Arsenal’s considerable defensive depth.

David Raya was largely comfortable, although a moment of hesitation and Ben White’s misplaced header briefly offered Everton encouragement.

Gyokeres Offers Encouragement as Arsenal Maintain Pressure

Viktor Gyokeres delivered a performance that should encourage Arteta despite failing to register a shot. His improved hold-up play and intelligent touches created opportunities for teammates, demonstrating his growing understanding of Arsenal’s attacking system.

Arsenal’s title ambitions will ultimately depend on maintaining this consistency against stronger opposition. Yet with Gabriel commanding defensively, Odegaard rediscovering his creative influence and Gyokeres becoming increasingly involved, Arteta has plenty of reasons for optimism.
