Swindon Town sign seven new first-year academy scholars

The group will join the under-18s for the next two seasons as part of the club’s full-time football and education scheme.

The new scholars are Ashley Glynn, Briel Rory Da Costa, Benjamin Head, Jack Dorland, Zachary Grainge, Zakaria Sowe, and Zak Gould.

Tim Bell, Academy and Head of Football Development, said: "I’d like to congratulate all of our first-year scholars.

"We are delighted to welcome all of the boys into our full-time football and education environment.

"Our Academy programme has evolved a lot over the past ten months.

"We've focused more carefully on the individual, helping create more holistic development for all our apprentices.

"And as our development pathways within the club continue to strengthen, we are excited for what the future holds for these young players."

Three of these scholars have already been involved with Ian Holloway's first team.

Benjamin Head and Zakaria Sowe featured in the senior team during pre-season, while Briel Rory Da Costa made his competitive debut in the Jersey Mike's Trophy against Newport County.

Sixteen-year-old Freddie Hoare also appeared in first-team action, playing in EFL Trophy matches against Newport County and Crystal Palace.

His appearances made him the second-youngest player in the club’s history.
