Frank Lampard was unable to give an injury update on Coventry City defender Bobby Thomas after he left the field injured just before the hour against Fulham.
The Sky Blues centre-half was having a decent game as he continues to look every bit a Premier League player but went down with an injury early in the second half at the CBS Arena, requiring treatment to what looked like a lower leg issue - the player later sat with ice strapped to his left leg just below the knee.
He attempted to carry on playing but dropped to the deck again minutes later and walked off slowly, replaced by substitute Stephen Mfuni in the 59th minute.
Asked what Thomas has done and the extent of the injury, Lampard said: “I don’t know. I’ve just been asked about that and I’m not dodging it. The game carried on. I haven’t seen him since I’ve come out to do all this (media) so I’m hoping it’s not too bad but I’ve got no answer for you.
“He had some sickness going into the game which he played through and was looking fine. So we’ll find out what it is.”
He added: “We hope not too serious. As I said, he had some illness but there was something bothering him to come off that wasn’t illness but, to be honest, I just don’t know.”
With Aurele Amenda sidelined with a calf tear until around Christmas, if Thomas is out for any length of time it will leave City short on cover, although Mfuni was excellent when he went on and the teenager continues to impress whenever he’s used. After the Manchester City teenager, Lampard has Joel Latibeaudiere – the defender having not been involved in the squad in the last two games.
