Exeter vs Fleetwood

Luca Woodhouse's sublime strike continued an excellent October for Exeter as they beat Fleetwood 2-1 at a sodden St James Park.

The Grecians have now won four and drawn one of their five league games so far this month to climb from the lower reaches of League Two to the fringes of the play-off zone.

Exeter had the better of the chances in the first half, with the best of those coming after six minutes when Jack Taylor hit the post and the ball cannoned off Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch and ended up going behind.

The deadlock was broken after 58 minutes when Charlie Cummins met a Reece Cole corner to head emphatically past Lynch for his first league goal.

Exeter's lead lasted three minutes as Fleetwood levelled when Ronan Coughlan turned in a free-kick from close range.

But Exeter hit straight back themselves with Woodhouse curling a screamer into the top corner from 25 yards in the 64th minute.

Ethan Sutherland blazed a glorious chance to seal it for Exeter high over the crossbar, while Josh Robertson drilled a long-range shot just wide with the last chance of the game for Fleetwood.
