O’Shaquie Foster Shows His Brilliance Against Emanuel Navarrete

San Antonio, Texas – O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster demonstrated his technical boxing skills Saturday night by boxing brilliantly to defeat Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete by unanimous decision (115-111, 118-108×2). He outpointed him by putting on a masterclass. He was offensively sharp and defensively elusive.

Scoring a pair of knockdowns in the twelfth round and holding him to career lows in both total punches landed (99) and connect rate (18.8 %), Vaquero struggled offensively, not being able to land anything of significance, finding it difficult to find the target all night. His connect rate was anemic, landing in the single digits for 8 of the 12 rounds (Compubox).

With the win Foster (26-3, 12 KOs) captured the vacant Ring Magazine super featherweight championship and unified the WBO, IBF, and WBC titles. He now becomes the frontrunner for the fighter of the year award, having earned victories over Raymond Ford and Navarrete (40-3- 1, 33 KOs).

After the win, Foster told the media at the post-fight scrum, “I feel like it was a great performance. I finished strong man. I put him down twice at the end. I feel like there was a lot of people raving saying that I didn’t have no power and that I wasn’t going to be able to keep him off of me. I feel like I showed them tonight that I’m an all-around fighter.”

Many boxing experts believed this fight to be a 50-50 fight where either fighter could have come out victorious. O’Shaquie proved Saturday he is an elite fighter, having defeated another top fighter.

Since having lost controversially to Robson Conceicao in July of 2024, he’s showed significant improvement since then. Earning his revenge in the rematch against Conceicao, then defeating Stephen Fulton convincingly, followed by his most recent performances against Ford and Navarrete.

Vasiliy Lomachenko seems poised to come out of retirement and make an undisputed run in the 130-pound division, stating this is his normal weight and that he wants to become undisputed again.

Foster has his eyes set on becoming undisputed champion and made it known to the media that this is his immediate goal and does not want to deviate from this by entertaining a fight with Shakur Stevenson or Lomachenko; for now, he wants to become undisputed.

The other divisional titleholder is WBA super featherweight champion Anthony Cacace, who is set to defend his title next against Nick Ball on December 19. O’Shaquie has every intent of pursuing a fight against the winner.

He did say he would be willing to fight Lomachenko afterwards, “I want Loma to get a tune-up fight or something cuz when I beat him I don’t want any excuses, man. He been retired.” With the return of Loma and Foster on the verge of becoming undisputed, it’s becoming one of the must-watch divisions.
