NFL games to watch Sunday during Ravens mini bye week

The Ravens cannot repair their season on Sunday, but they can hope the rest of the AFC gives them some breathing room. Baltimore enters its mini bye following Thursday’s 33-10 loss to Jacksonville, leaving Jesse Minter’s team at 4-5 with four consecutive defeats and an increasingly difficult path back into contention.

Pittsburgh is also idle, meaning Baltimore’s attention turns first to Cincinnati and Cleveland before shifting toward the conference standings. Losses by teams ahead of the Ravens would help preserve opportunities, although Baltimore still must turn those openings into wins.

Here are the Sunday matchups worth watching. All times are Eastern.

Bengals vs. Falcons: 9:30 a.m., NFL Network

The rooting guide begins in Madrid, where Cincinnati faces Atlanta. A Falcons victory would prevent another AFC North rival from adding a win while Baltimore watches from home. For the Ravens, this is one of the day’s clearest rooting interests: An NFC team handing a division opponent a loss carries immediate value without strengthening another AFC contender.

Browns at Saints: 1 p.m., CBS

Cleveland’s trip to New Orleans provides another opportunity for outside help. Baltimore already lost its first meeting with the Browns, making Cleveland’s results especially relevant as the Ravens try to recover in-division. A Saints victory would keep the Browns from taking another step forward during Baltimore’s extended break.

Packers at Patriots: 4:25 p.m., Fox

New England enters Sunday at 5-3, placing this game high on Baltimore’s afternoon watch list. A Packers victory would give the Patriots a fourth loss and keep them closer to the Ravens. With Baltimore already carrying five defeats, limiting separation among the teams ahead of it matters more than watching marquee matchups with little conference relevance.

Raiders at 49ers: 4:25 p.m., Fox

Las Vegas sits at 4-4, making this another useful AFC-NFC matchup for Baltimore’s purposes. A San Francisco victory would leave the Raiders at 4-5, matching the Ravens’ overall record. That would not settle any postseason positioning, but it would prevent a nearby conference competitor from moving above .500.

Broncos at Panthers and Jets at Chiefs: 1 p.m., CBS

Carolina and New York offer Baltimore additional chances for help against AFC West contenders. The Ravens would benefit from the Panthers beating Denver and the Jets upsetting Kansas City. Those results would slow teams farther up the conference standings, although the division games and Las Vegas-New England outcomes deserve greater immediate attention.

Texans at Chargers: 4:05 p.m., CBS

Houston’s visit to Los Angeles rounds out the AFC viewing schedule. This matchup deserves monitoring as Baltimore tracks the conference, but its own recovery remains the central issue. A favorable Sunday can keep the Ravens within reach; it cannot replace the wins they need when their schedule resumes.
