Bayern Munich's social media pages boomed after Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or, but now the aim is to retain that level of interest. Tasked with fulfilling that role is the club's Marketing and Sales Officer, Rouven Kasper.

“It's difficult, you always have to look at what’s next. We have had strong momentum and are growing based on our media and commercial departments' clear strategy," Kasper told Bulinews.com at a media round in München.

“We have some disadvantages when it comes to international business, but we just need to work as a team with the Bundesliga and the other clubs. For sure, we have it in our hands to make it as good as possible.

“From recent years, it [development] has been very good. We can see now that we can make strong effects in the international field. This gives us even more power so we can invest into different platforms and new products.

“Maybe we can even open infrastructure in other continents, because when you have an office and people there you can learn more about the [local] market. Then you can adapt better. This is our next step," he pointed out.

The Bayern chief was also quick to demand greater output from Bundesliga clubs outside of Bayern and Borussia Dortmund. Kasper senses the other 16 teams in the topflight could play an important role in growing the league's appeal.

“The league needs to be better and bring more reach. We [Bayern Munich] are the spearhead of German football. Together with other the other clubs and the league, we need to be more active in the market.

“When you compare the last two years, there were 13 Premier League clubs playing abroad outside the UK [in pre-season] while Bundesliga clubs had five. At the end, it’s about people and being a community.

“We want to be approachable. We want to talk to the people and be there as the Bundesliga. Bayern alone with Dortmund can’t do that alone, so we need more activity from the other clubs in different markets.

“The UK teams, also the Spanish [La Liga] are doing. We are doing our part, not only in the summer but also the winter. It requires team spirit and I think it needs to be pushed a little bit more,” said Kasper, claiming a need for cooperation.
