Dolphins LB reveals what he wants to improve on after strong start

The Miami Dolphins took linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech, and the selection was met with praise from draft experts and college football fans alike.

Through five games, the Dolphins looks brilliant for targeting the former Red Raider, who had an NCAA record seven forced fumbles last year. The 24-year-old has 57 tackles, one interception and a quarterback hit on the season, and he led the league in tackles before Miami's week off.

Still, Rodriguez knows he has things to improve on going forward.

"I think there's a lot of things technique-wise about playing the position," Rodriguez told reporters in the locker room on Wednesday. "I think just getting on and off blocks, working around whatever technique that is, each play, each position on a blocker between the ball carrier (and you), I think depends on what you have to use. So whether you have to use your hands or use your body to get around them, I just need to be better at that."

Rodriguez has a trophy case full of awards from his collegiate days, and if he can hone his craft a bit more, he'll be on his way to adding more in his professional career.
