The injury sustained by Jonathan Clauss (34) during Friday night’s win over Stade Brestois is not as bad as first feared, as per a report from RMC Sport. The France international could be included in OGC Nice’s squad to face Stade Rennais on Friday night.
Clauss was forced off midway through the second half in Nice’s 2-1 win over Brest. Speaking in his post-match press conference, Nice manager Olivier Pantaloni stated that he feared the defender had sustained an ankle sprain.
There were therefore fears that the right-back would miss several weeks of action. However, the injury is not as bad as first feared. He is instead expected to resume first-team training this week and could be included in Friday’s matchday squad.
The match at the Allianz Riviera was scheduled to take place on Saturday but was advanced to Friday night following a police directive linked to the ongoing protests across France.
