Alexander Volkov spent the majority of UFC 333 fight week pressing his boss.

On Thursday, the 6ft 7in Russian heavyweight hijacked a press conference he wasn’t invited to.

Dana White was left confused when Alexander Volkov jumped on the mic and asked him what he has to do to earn a shot at UFC gold.

Will Alexander Volkov get a title shot after UFC 333?

Alexander Volkov posed the same question following his win over Rizvan Kuniev at UFC 333 on Saturday.

‘Drago’ earned a unanimous decision victory (29–28, 30–27, 30–27) before using his post-fight mic time to put pressure on Dana White.

“I have a question for Dana White,” Volkov said during his Octagon interview with Daniel Cormier.

“I’m just starting my professional career. I have about 20 professional fights in the UFC.

“What should I do to get a title shot? Answer me, please.”

Dana White was asked if Volkov will get the next heavyweight title shot during his post-fight press conference.

“Yeah, look, he had a good performance tonight,” the UFC CEO replied.

“We’ll see. We’ll see what happens next.”

Explaining the heavyweight title picture

Alexander Volkov is on a three-fight win streak, but his recent record is much more impressive than that.

The 37-year-old’s only loss since 2022 was a hugely controversial decision defeat to Ciryl Gane at UFC 310 in December 2024.

Since then, Gane has gone on to claim the heavyweight belt, which he’ll defend at UFC 334 next month.

Volkov could be next in line to face the winner of the Frenchman’s fight with Josh Hokit on November 14.

However, Tom Aspinall will jump the queue if he is fit to face the winner of Gane vs. Hokit during the first half of 2027.

The former champion has been sidelined since Gane poked him in both eyes, causing their UFC 321 fight to end in a no-contest last October.

Aspinall recently vacated his belt to avoid holding up the heavyweight division, so he will almost certainly be granted an immediate title shot when he’s cleared to return.
