Irish Premiership: Larne come from behind to beat Bangor

That's it from us on another action-packed day of drama in the Irish Premiership.

Coleraine moved back to the top of the league standings with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Crusaders, while Larne fought back to overcome Bangor 2-1.

Cliftonville ran out 3-1 victors over Dungannon Swifts, while a last-gasp leveller saw Limavady United secure a precious point on the road at Carrick Rangers.

Duncan Ferguson's bow as Glentoran manager must wait until Friday night however as the east Belfast side's game against Ballymena United fell victim of the weather.

We'll be back with more top division action on Tuesday night as Larne play Limavady in a rearranged fixture but until then it's bye from us and enjoy what remains of your evening.

Bangor have a promising free-kick on the left edge of the Larne box in the closing moments of the half.

Tiarnan Mulvenna stands over it, but Steven McCullough takes the effort and fires into the side-netting.

That brings an end to the first half, with Bangor leading 1-0 at Clandeboye Park.

Harry Lynch returns to Bangor's starting line-up following his three-match suspension as the Seasiders prepare to face defending champions Larne at Clandeboye Park.

Ben Arthurs leads the Bangor attack, while Ben Cushnie is among the substitutes for Lee Feeney's side.

Larne manager Gary Haveron names James Simpson and Montel Gibson in his starting XI, with Paul O'Neill, Sean Graham and Jordan McEneff among the substitutes.

Conditions have improved in Bangor ahead of kick-off, with the earlier rain clearing and sunshine emerging, although stronger winds remain a possibility.

Bangor: Grogan, C McGuinness, Neale, Francis, Lynch, Harrison (c), Hassin, Mulvenna, Arthurs, McCullough, Hughes.

Subs: McMahon, Cushnie, O'Mahoney, Devlin, McRoberts, Strachan, S McGuinness.

Larne: Ferguson, Ridley, Donnelly, Randall, O'Hara, Millar, Cosgrove (c), Sloan, Bent, Gibson, Simpson.

Subs: Carney, McKendry, O'Neill, Graham, Doherty, McEneff, Sandiford.

Referee: Ben McMaster.

It's all over at Seaview where Coleraine return to the top of the table following a convincing 5-0 win over 10-man Crusaders.

The home side were reduced to 10 men after just 11 minutes when defender Scot Rough was sent off by referee Shane Andrews and they were made to pay by a confident Coleraine.

Ben Wylie fired them in front midway through the first half before Senan Devine and Joel Cooper aded to their tally before half-time.

A Jacob Blaney own goal made it 4-0 to the visitors shortly after the restart before Adam Brooks netted his first for Coleraine in the closing minutes.

Rodney McAree makes four changes as Dungannon look for a way back into the game, with Paul Doyle, Junior Uzokwe, Kealan Dillon and Steven Scott making way for Jamie Glackin, Leo Alves, Andy Mitchell and Corey Smith.

Half-time at Seaview where visitors Coleraine enjoy a comfortable lead.

Ben Wylie fired them in front after 19 minutes before Senan Devine doubled the lead with a fine strike from distance on the half hour.

Joel Cooper made it 3-0 five minutes before the break with an instinctive finish from close range.

All this after Crusaders had defender Scot Rough sent off by referee Shane Andrews after just 11 minutes.

A long way back for the home side but a good 45 minutes from the Bannsiders.

The visitors double their lead on the half hour thanks to a wonderful strike from midfielder Senan Devine.

The teenager picks up the ball midway inside the Crusaders half, strides forward before unleashing a rising shot high into the roof of the net past the despairing dive of Shea Callister.

That's a fourth goal of the season for the recalled 19-year-old.

With the appointment of Duncan Ferguson at the Oval confirmed on Monday, the club's five-week search for a new manager illustrates again that there is the easy way, the hard way, and the Glentoran way.

When the east Belfast outfit parted company with Declan Devine on 14 September, the simple solution to the early-season vacancy appeared to be a reunion with former assistant Tiernan Lynch.

A two-time winner of the Irish Premiership with Larne, Lynch was freshly back on the market after leaving Derry City in August and immediately installed as favourite for the post.

Instead, the Glens made the trickier prospect of prying Jim Magilton out of his contract at Cliftonville their priority.

When the former Northern Ireland and Ipswich Town midfielder made it clear he intended to stay at Solitude, nobody would have predicted what came next.

A pivot towards Everton legend Ferguson, who also had spells with Rangers and Newcastle United, was not, as they say, on anyone's bingo card.

The appeal of bringing Ferguson's star power to the Irish Premiership is obvious, akin to the boost provided to the League of Ireland by former Chelsea winger Damian Duff's successful, if short, stint with Shelbourne in recent years.

A cult figure across two playing spells at Goodison Park thanks to both his goalscoring exploits and aggressive style - no player has ever received more than his eight Premier League red cards - the 54-year-old Scot instantly becomes the most recognisable face in the league.

Rodney McAree makes three changes to the side that overcame Bangor 2-1 in the BetMcLean Cup.

Danny Wallace, Tiernan Kelly and Junior Uzokwe all return to the starting XI, with John Scott, Jamie Glackin and Andy Mitchell named among the substitutes.

Cliftonville counterpart Jim Magilton makes just a single alteration following their 2-0 midweek win over Portadown.

Rory Hale earns a recall to the starting line-up as Joel Thompson drops to the bench.

Dungannon Swifts: Dunne, McKeown, Kelly, S. Scott, Dillon, Glenny, Gordon, Doyle, Wallace, Uzokwe, McAllister.

Subs: Henderson, McGinty, J. Scott, Smith, Mitchell, Alves, Glackin.

Cliftonville: Morrison, Wightman, Samuels, Wilson, Hale, Healy, Leppard, Quinn, Bannon, McStravick, Sheridan.

Subs: Cremen-Crowe, Campbell, Conlan, McClelland, McMaster, Thompson, Murray.
