Everywhere you look, there seems to be a manager under pressure, as Nuno Espirito Santo is finding out at West Ham United.
Another former West Ham player, Michael Carrick, has been making the headlines, given the chaos unfolding at Manchester United right now.
Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as Manchester United boss last season, but his job is now hanging by a thread, with Simon Jordan slamming the club for having a lack of ‘leaders’, as he told Football Uncensored.
But Jordan couldn’t help but aim shots at Amorim, and how he once was ‘photo bombing’ for the West Ham manager’s job, before taking the gig at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho to West Ham?? 🤯 What do you make of reports saying the free agent has been offered to us? The Man United reject has yet to find a club…
Rewind back to 2024, and Amorim held talks with West Ham, despite still being in charge of Sporting Lisbon, including being spotted in London.
Amorim would proceed to apologise for his actions and talks with the mighty Hammers, before he would eventually become Manchester United boss, and that didn’t last very long.
When Jordan, who is the former owner of Crystal Palace, wanted to explain how those at Old Trafford are lacking ‘leaders’, he used the ‘clown’ Amorim and his previous actions towards West Ham as an example.
“The bottom line is that Manchester United need to get capable leaders in place,” said Jordan. “The next decision for Manchester United is to get a leader in. A proper leader.
“Not a clown like Amorim, who was photo bombing West Ham to get a job, and then suddenly decided that he was suddenly decided he was going to tell truth to power, and play the gallery with the Manchester United fans by setting the team up in a way that nobody could play in.”
If Amorim had taken charge when he was flirting with those in East London, he would have replaced David Moyes when his contract expired at the end of the 2023/24 season.
West Ham proceeded to appoint Julen Lopetegui, and he helped build several layers towards the club’s relegation last season, even though he wasn’t in charge when the club went down.
That’s because Lopetegui made some woeful signings, including the likes of Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug, Jean-Clair Todibo, and currently Max Kilman.
| Lopetegui’s matches in charge at West Ham | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals scored | Goals conceded | Points per game |
| 22 | 7 | 5 | 10 | 26 | 44 | 1.18 |
It could be argued that some of these players wouldn’t have joined West Ham, but Amorim signed the likes of Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens, Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven during his time in the Old Trafford dugout.
While many Man United fans want some of those players out now, the likes of Mbeumo and Cunha would have been amazing for the Hammers.
| Amorim’s matches in charge at Man United | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals scored | Goals conceded | Points per game |
| 63 | 25 | 15 | 23 | 122 | 114 | 1.43 |
What’s interesting is that Amorim proceeded to have a better win record in English football than Lopetegui, but that isn’t saying much.
Would the now AC Milan boss have been a better option than Lopetegui? Yes. But he probably still would have been drowned by how West Ham have been run over the years.
