Chelsea are interested in Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong according to some reports online today.

The one position in Chelsea’s team which still has a big question mark over it at the moment is central midfielder.

We know the Blues wanted to add another player there because they had a deal set up for Lamine Camara on deadline day this summer. It fell through, and while the team are doing OK without him, Jordan Henderson can only ever be a short term option.

A return for Camara seems possible, and Alex Scott of Bournemouth seems to be the team’s first choice. But there are other options on the table. TeamTalk today note that Everton’s tough-tackling box to box man Harrison Armstrong is a name on the list too.

The Toffees came close to selling him in the summer, although a backlash from the fanbase ultimately ended the deal.

The Blues are likely to keep watching Armstrong and could attempt an offer in the summer – although it may be too late by then. A lot of the reporting around Scott claims he could be on the move in January, and Chelsea are the favourites to sign him.

If Bournemouth price us out of that deal, expect attentions to turn more fully to Armstrong.
