Following last night's draw 2-2 with Hearts, the Ibrox side have now dropped points from two away games in a row, having had the same scoreline against Dundee.

Boyd felt his old club were second best in Gorgie and were lucky to snatch a draw thanks to Olwethu Makhanya's late equaliser. And he feels Rangers do not use the ball and keep possession well enough to allow them to dominate games.

He told Sky Sports: “They’ve stolen a point because, especially that second half, it’s got to be better. If you’re going to win a league, there has to be periods in games where you dominate that game.

“When you’re suffering, put together a few passes that frustrate the opposition. Trust me, there is nothing worse than chasing a team that keep the ball for a period of time. Rangers don’t do that.”

Boyd felt Rangers were disjointed and did not approach Hearts as they should have,

He added: “Hearts are a pressing team. They’ll get after you. There’s gaps in behind. But everything’s just so rushed for Rangers.

“Rangers really struggled to deal with Hearts. Emmanuel Fernandez, he looked so at unease with the Hearts attacking players.

“The amount of times that he caused problems for his own team-mates, again. Everything just seems disjointed.”
