Lamine Yamal has the chance to make history at the Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday, Oct. 26.
The Barcelona and Spain star is among the favorites to win the award after helping his club team to a La Liga title and his country to a World Cup in 2026.
No teenager has ever won the prize. At age 19, Yamal would easily be the youngest-ever winner of the Ballon d'Or.
The youngest winner of the Ballon d'Or is Brazilian legend Ronaldo, who won the award in 1997 at the age of 21 years and 92 days.
The striker earned the award after an incredible year for club and country. Ronaldo scored 47 goals in 49 matches for Barcelona during the 1996–97 season, earning a record transfer to Inter Milan in the summer of 1997.
Ronaldo also led Brazil to the 1997 Copa América title, winning the player of the tournament award in the process.
