A new report offered some important updates on the Kansas City Chiefs‘ chances of upgrading their wide receiver corps with former Pro Bowlers like Brian Thomas Jr. and Jerry Jeudy before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline.

Heading into the Week 8 NFL schedule, the Chiefs have little to complain about. After a frustrating 6-11 season last year, Kansas City leads the AFC West with a 5-1 record. They have a defense that is giving up the second-fewest points in the league and an offense that has been effective.

However, as we near the trade deadline, adding impact talent to the wide receiver corps would really bolster the Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes. Especially with Rashee Rice dealing with leg injuries and Tyquan Thornton on the IR. It’s why the team has been linked to a lot of trade speculation for pass catchers in recent weeks.

On Wednesday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowden released a ranking of the 25 best players that could be moved before Nov. 10, including several receivers linked to the Chiefs.

When it comes to the second-ranked player on the list, former Jacksonville Jaguars first-round pick Brian Thomas Jr., the NFL insider claims, “League execs are sensing the end for BTJ in Jacksonville, as his targets and playing time have dipped.” The report lists Kansas City among the “team fits” for the one-time Pro Bowler.

Cleveland Browns veteran Jerry Jeudy is another proven pass catcher who has been in trade rumors for months. Especially as he has seen a diminished role under new head coach Todd Monken. Fowler claims that the team is not actively shopping the fifth-ranked player on their list.

Furthermore, while the Chiefs are listed as a fit for the one-time Pro Bowler, the NFL insider added it would take a “substantial” offer that would need to be higher than a fourth-round pick to get Jeudy.

One last player that could be on Kansas City’s radar over the next couple of weeks is four-year Indianapolis Colts veteran Josh Downs. After trading both DeForest Buckner and Quentin Nelson this week, Indy is undertaking a fire sale. Fowler notes the impending free agent “would probably welcome the chance to play with someone like Patrick Mahomes if the Chiefs were to come calling.”

The NFL insider also added that Downs has “garnered interest from multiple teams.” Although it is unclear if the Chiefs are among them, they were also listed as a team fit for the 25-year-old.
