Where to buy tickets as Shamrock Rovers’ potential title decider nears sell out

Shamrock Rovers could be crowned champions at the final whistle on Friday night.

And it looks like Tallaght Stadium will be sold out for their final home game of the season as Stephen Bradley’s men host relegated Sligo Rovers.

A win for the Hoops along with anything other than a Bohemians victory at home to Shelbourne would be enough to seal Rovers’ sixth Premier Division crown in seven seasons.

The defending champions are three points clear of Bohs with two games remaining, so a draw would even be enough if Shels were to win at Dalymount Park.

Either way, the title looks destined to remain at Tallaght Stadium.

St Patrick’s Athletic’s slim hopes of remaining in the race depend on the Hoops slipping up and losing to the Bit O’ Red - after their disastrous weekend when they lost to Shels and Derry City.

Rovers issued an update on Friday afternoon, just hours away from kick-off, warning fans that three out of Tallaght Stadium’s four stands had sold out.

It read: “The North Stand is now sold out, adding to the previously sold out Main and South Stand.

“Tickets for the East Stand remain available for home fans and neutrals.”

Shamrock Rovers recently played in front of a record 10,208 supporters when they beat Bohemians 2-1 in Tallaght.

That attendance was the highest ever recorded at the Dublin 24 venue in the League of Ireland.

Fans still hoping to get to Tallaght Stadium on Friday evening can buy tickets for the East Stand through the official Shamrock Rovers website.

It was confirmed on Thursday that Rovers - in the event that the title is decided - would not be presented with the league trophy after the Sligo game.

League of Ireland officials had planned to have the trophy and all their presentation paraphernalia at the ready tonight in the event of the Hoops securing an unassailable lead.

However, Rovers officials asked that there would not be a trophy lift.

So instead, the trophy will be presented next Friday either at Oriel Park, where Rovers are away to Dundalk, or at Richmond Park, where Bohs face St Patrick’s Athletic.

Hoops boss Bradley insisted that there was no talk of trophies in his dressing room.

“No there won’t be, no our focus is on winning the two games. We’re planning that this goes till the end, there is no talk of trophy lifts or nothing,” he said.

“We’ve no preparations to celebrate (tonight). Zero.”
