Retour
The New England Patriots are re-signing outside linebacker Jose Ramirez to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, as the team continues adjusting the 17-man practice unit to add depth in the midst of injuries.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Ramirez with the No. 196 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Eastern Michigan. He has appeared in two games this season and has recorded one tackle and provided additional special teams support for the Patriots.
Ramirez was recently released by the Patriots prior to being brought on again to the practice squad. His return gives New England another familiar option as they continue to manage their practice squad throughout the season.
The move also adds depth to an edge-rushing group navigating personnel challenges. Harold Landry remains on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which has created opportunities for other players to step forward. Elijah Ponder has played well to begin the season, while Gabe Jacas and Dre’Mont Jones have also delivered encouraging performances.
Ramirez’s special-teams experience might help New England maintain flexibility as they work through injuries and evaluate their options along the defensive front.
