After placing running back RJ Harvey on injured reserve with a knee injury, there is "little doubt" the Denver Broncos will go shopping for a proven running back, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts "are now open" to trading running back Jonathan Taylor, and talks are "active and ongoing" with multiple teams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That same report listed the Broncos among NFL teams that have expressed "at least some level of interest" in Taylor.
Indy has already turned down a trade offer from an undisclosed club that included a second-round pick in 2027 and another pick, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero.
Klis reports that Denver has "checked in" with the Colts about Taylor, but he noted that running back isn't the only position the team might look to upgrade. The Broncos are expected to "explore all skill positions, including tight end and receiver," according to Klis. He tweeted that he expects Denver to explore adding "a weapon or two" leading up to the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10.
Taylor's price tag and expensive contract might make him unlikely to land in Denver, and The Athletic's Jonathan Jones has reported that the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants appear to be the current favorites to land Taylor. Even if they don't land Taylor, though, Denver could target other running backs (and tight ends and receivers). We'll have coverage of all the latest developments leading up to the trade deadline on Broncos Wire.
