The New York Jets finished their Week 8 game against the Tennessee Titans with their heads hanging following a 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium.

On the field, the Jets (2-6) did not look the part of a winning team. How about off the field after the film has been broken down by NFL analysts across the media landscape?

Here is Jets Wire's roundup of national media power rankings polls following Week 8 and heading into Week 9:

USA TODAY

28. New York Jets (28): If the season ended today − it doesn't − they'd have three top-10 draft picks in 2027 and a seemingly solid WR3 in Adonai Mitchell as the dust continues to settle from last year's trade deadline fireworks.

Pro Football Talk

31. Jets (No. 31; 2-6): Everyone except Woody Johnson knows it’s time for a coaching change.

The Athletic

29. New York Jets (2-6)Last week: 29

Sunday: Lost to Raiders 38-33

Reality check: It’s almost over for Aaron Glenn

The Jets’ chances of making the playoffs fell to 1 percent with Sunday’s loss as Glenn fell to 5-20 in his second season. He might not get fired during the season, but he won’t make it to next fall. The good news — at least for the new head coach — is that New York is projected to have the fourth, sixth and 10th picks in the first round next year.

Week 8 Result: Lost vs. Las Vegas 38-33

Last week, the New York Jets handed the previously winless Miami Dolphins their first victory of 2026. Somehow, what happened at MetLife Stadium in Week 8 might be worse.

The Jets outgained the Las Vegas Raiders by over 100 yards and completely dominated the first half, only to see the defense fall apart after halftime.

It was the team's fifth one-score loss of the season, and head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters that the team's inability to seal the deal is frustrating.

"I'm upset in general because of where we're at as a team—and I mean that, for the record—because there's always things that you're going to be things that you want to get better at," he said. "So, if anything, if I want to put my thumb on something, that's it—the record that we have right now."

With the Chiefs and Bills next up on the schedule, the Jets are barreling toward another miserable season. And the mounting losses are likely to increase scrutiny of Glenn's position.

CBS Sports

25. Jets (+1)

The heat is intensifying by the week on Aaron Glenn. They do have a lot of talented young players on this roster.

FOX Sports

Previous ranking: 31

Super Bowl odds: +100000 (tied for 29th)

The Jets scored points on their first six possessions Sunday — the first time they’ve done that in 18 years. Geno Smith threw for 290 yards. Braelon Allen ran for 147. The Jets even led by two scores late in the third quarter. And somehow they still lost. That’s what bad teams do, and the Jets ought to know. At this point, Jets fans are just hoping the Chargers win one of their next two games so they don’t lose to yet another winless team in three weeks. I mean, how much can one fan base take?

Next game: @ Chiefs (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET)

Stat To Know: The Jets’ young stars were on full display despite the loss to the Raiders. Adonai Mitchell caught seven passes for a career-high 142 yards and a touchdown, while Braelon Allen ran for a career-high 147 yards.

Best in-season trade acquisition ever: WR Braylon Edwards in 2009

Edwards provided a much-needed vertical threat for rookie QB Mark Sanchez, helping the Jets to playoff runs in 2009 and 2010. Coach Rex Ryan called Edwards a "rare talent" and a "matchup nightmare." Drafted No. 3 in 2005, Edwards fell out of favor in Cleveland. The Jets pounced, trading third- and fifth-round picks, and two marginal players for him. In those two seasons, he made 88 receptions for 1,445 yards and 11 TDs. He also delivered clutch performances in six playoff games.
