Manchester United, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace are all drastically underperforming in the Premier League this season, and it feels like it's a race to see which manager will be sacked.

Michael Carrick is under pressure at United after winning just one game in the Premier League so far this season, as they sit just above the relegation zone.

Regis Le Bris has also won just one game in the Premier League, with his side sitting bottom of the table.

Pierre Sage's Crystal Palace are in the bottom three with two victories, but they've had some really unfortunate luck with some silly red cards.

All three managers are undoubtedly underperforming and need to improve, as just one more bad result could easily see one of them sacked.

It wouldn't even be a surprise if one of them was sacked in the coming days, but it does feel like there's only one winner in the sack race.

Manchester United manager Carrick deserves some slack due to the fact that he was let down in the summer transfer window.

United failed to strengthen their defence during the market, which is arguably their most troublesome area of the pitch at the moment.

Carrick also has his players speaking out negatively in the media, and there's clearly something not right behind the scenes at the moment.

Sacking him just simply wouldn't solve all their problems, which is why United need to give him time and sort everything out internally.

It's a fairly similar story for Sage at Palace. He was also let down by the Eagles during the summer transfer window, with his defensive options simply not good enough.

He's also had some really unfortunate luck, with Axel Disasi being sent off against Ipswich early on in a 3-2 defeat and Jean-Philippe Mateta being sent off against Tottenham in the first half at the weekend.

Palace have created 11.2 expected goals but only managed to score nine times. He's clearly not been given the tools defensively to shore up the back line.

Le Bris is the only answer

Regis Le Bris

Although Le Bris did a phenomenal job to get Sunderland into Europe last season, the underlying data certainly wasn't in their favour.

They created just 38.8 expected goals during the season, ranking them 18th in the Premier League.

That suggests that they overperformed to finish as high as they did in the Premier League last season.

This campaign is levelling out as expected, as they sit at the bottom of the Premier League, just five points.

Maybe Sunderland could have backed Le Bris better in the market, but they certainly backed him the window before.

If one manager should be sacked in the coming days, it should be the Sunderland man.
