The 2015 Denver Broncos strike again! In an Twitter/X post from NFL analyst John Elliss, he asked the NFL-verse to compare the 2003 Carolina Panthers against the 2015 Carolina Panthers; strength for strength, in their prime. Fellow NFL analyst Brett Kollmann answered Elliss, tweeting that "no force on this mortal plane that could stop 2015 (NFL MVP) Cam (Newton)."
Both Carolina teams went to the Super Bowl. The 2003 Panthers lost to the New England Patriots in the middle of the Pats' early 2000s dynasty, where they won three out of four Super Bowls in that span, while the 2015 Panthers were stopped dead in their tracks by the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
Broncos Country had a field day with Kollmann's reply, reminding him of the man picked just behind Newton in the 2011 NFL draft, pass-rusher Von Miller, and Denver's "No Fly Zone" defense, which shut down the No. 1 offense in the NFL in Carolina that year.
You can see their responses below.
Some fans pointed out that since the Super Bowl for the 2015 season took place in 2016, technically Von Miller and Co. didn't stop 2015 Cam Newton.
Eventually, Kollmann poked fun at himself saying he wasn't counting the Broncos.
This exercise was a great reminder that Cam Newton and the Panthers were simply no match for the Broncos in Super Bowl 50.
