Conor McGregor has announced plans for a "last dance" inside the Octagon for the final bout of his UFC contract
The former two-division champion took aim at Canelo Álvarez's recent fight metrics and vowed to break his own pay-per-view sales records
While McGregor is targeting a comeback in 2027 the UFC has yet to officially determine an opponent or confirm a bout date
Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has announced plans for his “last dance” inside the Octagon for the final bout of his promotional contract. The Irish superstar took to social media to signal his return while weighing in on the commercial metrics of Saturday’s boxing match between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli in Saudi Arabia.
Coming off a 69-second defeat and torn meniscus against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in July—his third straight loss—McGregor dismissed the financial power of rival combat sports showcases. “How many views did the Canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate? Man, I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined. I don’t even be trying,” McGregor tweeted, asserting his continued dominance as a pay-per-view draw.
The former featherweight and lightweight champion emphasized that his impending return will conclude his storied MMA career on his own terms. “I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them numbers in that last bulls*** that I’ve to sit with for another few months before I return,” McGregor added. “I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records.” While McGregor is targeting an Octagon comeback in 2027, the UFC has yet to finalize an opponent or official date.
