Alexander Bublik retired hury during the semi-final of the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan - the 29-year-old's home competition. Bublik was taking on Daniil Medvedev in the last-four clash, but was forced to call it a day after picking up a suspected knee injury.
Bublik lost the first set to the Russian, with Medvedev winning the opener 6-3. It was too much for Bublik to continue, and he threw the towel in shortly after. Medvedev will now take on Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia in the final tomorrow.
But it's concerning for Bublik, who wasn't moving well throughout the contest and pointed to his right knee after retiring from the match. He had been involved in an epic with Karen Khachanov the day before, which may have taken its toll on the world No.19.
