Harry Kane became the first Englishman since 2001 to win the Ballon d'Or

Harry Kane's wife, Kate Kane, sent the football star lots of love on her socials after he made history for the first time in 25 years with the couple celebrating his career milestone.

Kate Kane flooded her husband and football star Harry Kane with love after he became the first Englishman since 2001 to win the Ballon d'Or.

Following an impressive season with Bayern Munich where he scored 61 goals in 51 appearances, and then England's World Cup success with a third place finish, he was well deserving of the award.

It was last won by an Englishman 25 years ago when Michael Owen took home the win. Speaking after claiming his award, Kane said: "I am almost speechless. Being here in London has made it extra special. Made it a good omen for me tonight. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I can imagine it was tough this year.

"Some world-class players in the room tonight. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees tonight and impressive showing determination and hard work can really achieve."

He added: "Without you guys [Bayern Munich team-mates] and the rest of the team it wouldn't be possible, the way you guys push me, the way we compete. So thank you very much. To Vinny [Vincent Kompany]. I know he is at home or still in the hospital. Wishing you well. I hope this gave you a bit of energy. To all the staff we way train and the way you push us it is a credit to yourself.

"Since I have been with you I have improved as player, improved as a person and a leader. Thanks to your leadership. An honour to play for Bayern Munich. To represent you is a real privilege. Glad to be bringing this trophy back to Bayern Munich.

"To my England team-mates, again the same. We had a special year. It wasn't the perfect year, but we had a load of great moments. We built a great bond together. The togetherness in the hotel in the World Cup. An honour to captain you and lead you. It makes me extremely proud. This one is for all of us for sure. Thomas Tuchel and the staff at England, again the leadership the way you drive us, the way you push standards is something to be admired."

After the good news was announced, Kate took to her Instagram looking all glam for the occasion as she penned: "Ready to support my love at the Ballon d’Or". As Harry received the award, Kate posted a video of him celebrating alongside multiple red heart emojis.

Harry Kane and Katie Goodland began dating during their teenage years. After several years together, Harry proposed to Katie on a beach during a holiday in July 2017. They officially tied the knot on June 19, 2019, in an intimate ceremony, and they have now been married for 7 years.

Over the course of their relationship, the couple has expanded their family to include four children. Their first daughter, Ivy, was born in January 2017, followed by their second daughter, Vivienne, in August 2018.

They welcomed their first son, Louis, in December 2020, and their fourth child, a son named Henry, was born in August 2023. Following Harry’s high-profile transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich, Katie and the children relocated to Germany to support his career abroad.
