England captain Meg Jones: "Credit to USA, they have come off the back of some amazing wins and have been phenomenal building the game and playing in a stadium like this.

"We wanted to control the game and impose ourselves because we knew they had momentum from their wins. We had to stop that and that’s what we did.

“When we got into it we started keeping the ball, being patient and had good control. Everyone was a threat to the line. We became unstoppable and I think that’s where the tries came from.

"Off the back of two losses, we just wanted to learn. We have so much feedback from this tour to go and review. There's so much growth in this team.

“We’re hungry to be better and to perform better. We’re just unbreakable at this point, but we need to keep pushing and growing.”

Maddie Feaunati hits a brilliant line and runs clear.

The United States are behind on the scoreboard, but they are giving as good as they are getting in the statistical small print.

Sadia Kabeya scored the first try in the ninth minute as England got their World Cup campaign under way with an emphatic win in front of 42,723 fans at Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

Ellie Kildunne was the player of the match with two superb tries and celebrated both of her tries with her cowboy-style dance.

There is just one change to the USA starting pack that faced Italy in Nashville last week, with Exeter Chiefs prop Hope Rogers promoted from the bench to the starting front row, replacing Lauryn Carlton.

There has also been one change in the backline, as Abigail Paton replaces Taina Tukuafu at scrum-half.
