Kansas City Chiefs stick with underfire kicker Harrison Butker despite latest blunder... with scandalized Justin Tucker waiting in the wings

Harrison Butker will keep his place for the Kansas City Chiefs' clash with the New York Jets, head coach Andy Reid confirmed on Wednesday.

Butker's future as the Chiefs' starting kicker has been under renewed scrutiny after a number of misses and the controversial arrival of Justin Tucker.

The three-time Super Bowl champion failed with another crucial field-goal attempt in last Sunday's collapse in Denver but Reid has confirmed that Butker will face the Jets at Arrowhead Stadium this weekend.

That is despite pressure from former Baltimore Ravens star Tucker, who was handed a 10-week suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy after he became embroiled in a sexual misconduct scandal.

Tucker, who is married, was accused of sexual misconduct by 16 massage therapists from across eight spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area. He denied any wrongdoing and branded the accusations 'shocking and heart-breaking.'

Tucker joined the Chiefs practice squad late last month, sparking a backlash from some fans and increasing pressure on Butker.

A few days later, in the Chiefs' 28-24 loss to the Denver Broncos, Butker missed his sixth field goal of the season. It was the 16th kick he has failed to make since the start of last season, the most in the NFL over that span.

This year, he has made just 12 of 18 attempts - putting him in a tie for 30th among NFL kickers. Only Harrison Mevis (55.6 percent) - who was recently cut by the Los Angeles Rams - has a worse completion record than Butker (66.7 percent).

Despite his teammate's struggles, Tucker will remain on the practice squad as the 36-year-old awaits his first NFL appearance since his release by the Ravens.

His NFL suspension was lifted in November 2025 and the veteran held workouts with several teams after leaving Baltimore. But the Chiefs were the first team to add the 36-year-old - who spent 13 seasons in Baltimore - to their roster following his suspension.

According to ESPN and NFL Network, the Chiefs worked out three kickers - including ex-Rams star Mevis - before Tucker was given the nod.
