‘He’s Over There Crying,’ ‘He Had His Binky Today’ — Steelers Safety Rips ‘Baby’ Deshaun Watson, ‘Assumes’ He Won’t Be Fined for Hit on Browns QB

'Are You Tone-Deaf?' 'Would Be a PR Nightmare' — Browns Reporter Faces Backlash For Starting Deshaun Watson Comeback Player of the Year Campaign

Jaquan Brisker left Sunday with a win over Cleveland and a complaint about the officiating. He also supplied a pacifier reference, just to make sure nobody missed how he felt.

The Steelers safety disputed his roughing-the-passer penalty against Deshaun Watson, arguing that his technique should keep him from receiving a fine. Pittsburgh’s 27-6 victory apparently did little to improve his opinion of the opening-drive flag.

Jaquan Brisker Mocks Deshaun Watson After Roughing Penalty

Brisker was penalized for a hit on Watson during Cleveland’s first possession at Acrisure Stadium. Afterward, he accused officials of giving the quarterback excessive protection.

“I think it’s just babying the quarterback. He’s laying there and crying or whatever he’s doing. It is what it is,” Brisker said, according to video shared by Ashley Wenskoski.

His assessment of Watson came with another jab.

“He had his binky today, so.”

Brisker also explained why he believed the hit would stand up to further review. He described making contact with his chest and moving to the side, defending how he finished the play.

The penalty came on third-and-8, extending Cleveland’s opening possession. Watson briefly left the game, with Shedeur Sanders replacing him for the remainder of the series before Watson returned on the next drive.

Pittsburgh recovered a Harold Fannin Jr. fumble later in the opening possession, limiting the damage from the flag. The Browns’ next drive also ended with a lost fumble, helping the Steelers establish control early.

Steelers Keep Pressure on Watson Throughout Division Win

The opening collision was only the beginning of a difficult afternoon for Cleveland’s quarterback.

Pittsburgh sacked Watson eight times and held the Browns without a touchdown. T.J. Watt finished with two sacks, while Cameron Heyward and Patrick Queen each contributed 1.5 as the Steelers repeatedly disrupted Cleveland’s offense.

Watson completed 27 of 39 passes for 324 yards, but that production yielded just two field goals. Cleveland scored on only two of its 12 possessions and failed to add any points after halftime.

The Browns also managed only 34 rushing yards, leaving their passing game to carry an increasingly difficult assignment as Watson received a 71.5 PFN QB Impact Grade, which ranks 18th in the league.

The loss dropped Cleveland to 5-3 and complicated Watson’s effort tostrengthen his case for another Browns contract. Pittsburgh improved to 6-2, won its fourth consecutive game and took sole possession of first place in the AFC North.

For the Steelers, the result also evened the season series after Cleveland’s earlier 27-24 victory. Their defense forced two turnovers Sunday, and the offense supplied 200 rushing yards to help finish the job.

Brisker had plenty to enjoy about that performance. The roughing penalty nevertheless remained on his mind when reporters arrived.

Pittsburgh gets a bye next, giving the safety time to see whether his confidence about avoiding a fine proves justified.
