But there’s still a game to be played between now and Friday night’s Fife Derby, with the Pars set to take on Bonnyrigg Rose tonight in the KDM Evolution Trophy.
Along with progressing in the tournament, a motivation for those involved will be showing they should be included in upcoming league fixtures.
Saturday’s super-sub, Oli Shaw, faces stiff competition up front. He netted two headers in the second half against Caley, and hopes to build on that in Midlothian.
He said: “It'll be a tough game there. I know a few of the boys that play there and the kind of style they play.
“You want to play as many games as you can as a footballer. I've not played as much football as I would like to recently.”
The 28-year-old hasn’t been starting, and he was chuffed to pick up his first two conversions of the Championship season.”
“When you're on the bench you need to be ready to be called upon,” he commented. “That's why this squad is so good, it's got a good depth in it.
“The team's been doing well, we’ve been winning games. You need to just bide your time, be patient and take your opportunity when it comes.
“I was ready on Saturday, I came on and managed to help the team, which I'm delighted with.”
“He (Neil Lennon) told the subs that were coming on, me and John (Tod), that we need to make the impact that we can and drive the team forward.”
The manager had previously talked about his team have had to rely on long-range strikes and set plays to score in a lot of recent games, despite creating clear-cut chances. Seeing his men make the most of decent crosses was a welcome change.
Shaw said: “I’m a penalty-box player. Most of my goals come from inside the box.
“I managed to find a couple of yards of space for both the headers and just get them on target. As an attacking player, you want to score goals, especially me coming off the back of the season I had last year.”
Asked how he feels ahead of the Raith clash at Stark’s Park, he said: “I'll do what I can in training this week and if I'm playing or involved on Tuesday as well, I'll do what I can and put myself in a good position to hopefully play.
“It's a derby, so we'll all be prepared for that. The fans will be up for it as well, so we'll be looking forward to that one.”
