Celtic in Meltdown as Title Hopes Take Huge Hit Giving Rangers a Major Opening
Rangers Celtic SPL race
Falkirk manager John McGlynn celebrates a win over Celtic.

Celtic have suffered an absolutely catastrophic afternoon at Falkirk and Rangers supporters must be licking their lips. The Parkhead side crashed to a humiliating 2-0 defeat, handing Derek McInnes an extraordinary opportunity. Suddenly, the supposedly mighty Celtic look anything but mighty. Indeed, the Rangers Celtic SPL race has taken another sensational twist.

Celtic’s Meltdown Is Glorious for Rangers

Falkirk didn’t merely frustrate Celtic. They beat them comfortably on the scoreboard and exposed another alarming collapse from the Glasgow giants.

Ethan Ross struck early before Scott Tanser doubled the advantage. Consequently, Celtic found themselves staring at another embarrassing Premiership result.

And this came immediately after their 2-2 home draw against Dundee United.

Five points dropped in two matches. Five enormous points.

For a club whose supporters routinely expect domestic domination, this represents a spectacular reality check.

Meanwhile, Rangers can barely believe their luck. Their biggest rivals have suddenly started handing out opportunities like Halloween sweeties.

McInnes Has a Golden Opportunity

The Rangers Celtic SPL race now presents Derek McInnes with something enormously valuable.

Celtic sit on 28 points from 12 matches. Rangers have 24 from 11.

Therefore, the Ibrox side can reduce the deficit to a single point by winning their game in hand.

Just consider that for a moment.

Despite Rangers’ own questionable performances, tactical experiments and dropped points, the Scottish Premiership title remains tantalisingly close.

Furthermore, McInnes has already demonstrated that his Rangers squad can produce winning football.

Seven consecutive victories proved that much.

However, he must now stop unnecessarily tinkering with a functioning system.

Celtic Are Cracking Under Pressure

There is something wonderfully amusing about Celtic’s current predicament.

Their supporters have spent years treating Scottish football like their personal playground. Yet Falkirk have just delivered a rather painful reminder that nobody owns the Premiership.

Moreover, this wasn’t some glorious European giant humbling Celtic.

It was Falkirk.

The same Falkirk that Rangers supporters would normally expect their biggest rivals to dispatch without considerable difficulty.

Instead, Celtic left empty handed.

Suddenly, the swagger looks rather less convincing. The arrogance looks rather premature.

And the title procession some might have anticipated looks anything but guaranteed.

Rangers Must Make Celtic Pay

Ultimately, the Rangers Celtic SPL race will depend on what McInnes does next.

Rangers cannot control Celtic’s results. However, they can certainly exploit their mistakes.

The Ibrox manager must recognise the enormous opportunity sitting directly in front of him.

No more bizarre selections. No more needless tactical experiments. No more throwing away points against beatable opposition.

Instead, Rangers must rediscover the ruthless winning mentality that produced their impressive run.

Celtic have opened the door spectacularly.

Now Rangers must kick it down.

Because if McInnes cannot capitalise on this Celtic meltdown, Rangers will have nobody to blame but themselves.
