Jets-loving ESPN host unloads on coach after 'absolute disgrace' vs lowly Dolphins
Aaron Glenn took over as Jets head coach ahead of the 2025 season and has a 5-19 record through 24 games

ESPN host and passionate New York Jets fan Mike Greenberg believes Aaron Glenn’s time as head coach is over.

On Sunday, the winless Miami Dolphins rolled into MetLife Stadium and snagged a dramatic 28-25 victory over the Jets, who were passionately booed by home fans throughout the damaging loss. After the Jets allowed the Dolphins to take the team's first lead of the season, New York fell behind even further, trailing 21-7 at halftime.

The mountain proved steep to overcome, as even though Omar Cooper scored another touchdown and Mason Taylor grabbed his second, the Jets slumped to defeat. It’s an embarrassing loss, while the Los Angeles Chargers now stand as the final winless franchise in 2026.

As star receiver Garrett Wilson clashes with quarterback Geno Smith, Glenn is struggling to keep hold of the reins. Greenberg is ready to cut ties, citing the second-year head coach’s misguided game-management decisions.

“That’s a loss that feels like the end of everything. The worst in years. Absolute disgrace,” Greenberg wrote on X. “To all #Jets fans telling me to root for losses and draft picks, I’m not fighting back anymore.

“And it’s just a matter of when, not if, they fire the coach. They absolutely should.”

Greenberg continued to lambast Glenn as the head coach attempted to explain his horrendous clock management at the end of the first half. He opted not to call any of the Jets’ three timeouts, which could’ve helped his team get an extra possession before time expired.

“Maybe we should’ve called our timeouts to get it back, but at that point, we just felt like we were going to stop them and be able to get the ball back,” Glenn explained. The nonsensical answer incensed Greenberg.

“This answer is inexcusable,” the ‘Get Up’ host wrote. “Game management is the most important part of this job, and he is as bad at it as any coach I’ve ever seen. There may not be any point in making the change now, but it’s over, it’s just a matter of when.”

Sunday’s loss to Miami feels like the end of the road for Glenn. Entering the bye week, Miami was 0-5 and had been outscored by more than 12 points per game, while the Malik Willis-led offense had scored seven touchdowns through the first five games of the season.

However, against Glenn’s defense, the Dolphins offense scored four touchdowns. As a result, Glenn is now winless in eight games against division rivals.

But the statistics over Glenn’s team in the final two minutes make for more harrowing reading. His Jets have now been outscored 107-6 in the final two minutes of the first half since he took over as head coach; no other team has been outscored by more than 45 points during those two-minute drills.

The 2-5 Jets can try to bounce back against the 3-4 Las Vegas Raiders — who have lost four successive games — at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
