The Minnesota Vikings and their offense have struggled for stretches of the 2026 season. While they are happy with the likes of Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz, they do have fans wondering what could have been after trading away J.J. McCarthy.
While the Vikings continue to sort things out, the New York Giants may be counting their lucky stars after seeing what J.J. McCarthy is capable of. He led the Giants to a win in his first start for them against a formidable Houston Texans defense.
He didn't have any touchdowns in the game, but he looked sharp in the win. All of that is okay with McCarthy as he spoke to the media after the game.
He stated, "Truly, the only stat I care about is going 1-0. I could care less how we get it done. At the end of the day, you want to perform well, you want to execute well, and it's one of those things where, if the running backs are getting their touchdowns, I'm as happy as I can be. Whether I'm throwing the touchdowns, I'm as happy as I can be."
McCarthy is likely to remain the starter now for the Giants through the rest of the season over Jameis Winston. If he keeps winning, things will be interesting for him and Jaxson Dart in 2027.
