WWE had recently announced that the 2027 Royal Rumble event would be taking place in Phoenix, Arizona.
Toady it was confirmed that the event would take place on February 6, making it the latest in the year the event has ever been held since it’s inception.
With a date now locked in for the show, here are some potential winners of next year’s men’s Royal Rumble match.
Ever since he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, the end goal for next year’s WrestleMania event has seemed set in stone.
After winning the 2026 King of the Ring and earning a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, Oba Femi forwent his title shot, instead opting to face Brock Lesnar in a Hell In A Cell match on the show.
However, Oba once again called out Roman Reigns following Money In The Bank just he did after WrestleMania 42, seemingly as a reminder of what the planned end goal is for WrestleMania 43.
Oba Femi has to be considered the favourite to win the Royal Rumble next year.
On the SmackDown side, there are a number of names currently chasing the WWE Championship and Sami Zayn on the show.
It was recently reported that the speculated bout between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk was not planned for WrestleMania 43, and with Sami Zayn reportedly winning over doubters he had backstage in the company with his latest WWE Championship run, he may end up taking the title into WrestleMania in Riyadh after all.
Punk is still yet to have a Royal Rumble victory on his resume, and next year could be his final chance to do so.
However, there is one other name on SmackDown that would make sense to challenge Sami Zayn for the title if he takes it into WrestleMania, that being his long time rival and friend Kevin Owens.
Since he returned to WWE at SummerSlam after a year and a half away, Kevin has been chasing the WWE Championship, though he and Sami are yet to face off one on one for the title.
Sami has captured the WWE Championship twice in 2026, so it now feels actually possible that Owens could finally win his second World Championship after a decade, and winning the Rumble to beat Sami for the title at WrestleMania would be a match made in heaven.
