Fenerbahce announced on their website that Dirk Kuyt has now been placed in interim charge of Fenerbahce after Ismail Kartal resigned, creating another major change around Greenwood and his team-mates.

The former Netherlands international had been working as Kartal’s assistant after joining the coaching staff in June.

Fenerbahce confirmed that Dirk Kuyt will oversee the first team until a permanent head coach is appointed.

Kuyt is no stranger to the Istanbul club, having scored 37 goals in 130 appearances during his playing spell and helped them win the Turkish league title in 2014.

He also spent six years at Liverpool, scoring 71 goals in 285 appearances, and will now prepare for a Champions League meeting with his former club on 4 November.
