Three goals in five minutes at the end of the first half from Issy Moore, Poppy Groves, and Elliana Martin put City in control at The Nest on Sunday, following on from their 1-1 draw with Posh in midweek.
Lara Densley marked her cameo off the bench with an emphatic finish in the penalty area to seal a place in the second round, maintaining their 100pc record in all cup competitions.
“There were bits that we were frustrated with from the previous game - the performance was good but we knew there was a lot more,” said Todd.
“We spoke about making sure we get the job done, how we can finish the attack and create more goalscoring opportunities.
“But not only that, looking at different ways we can break down opposition that might press us in a different way, and that’s a credit to the staff and the girls for buying into that.”
There was once again little to separate the two sides until Moore’s deft backheel that inspired Groves to double the advantage in next to no time.
Martin then showed brilliant determination to close down the Peterborough goalkeeper and rid her of the ball right on the line before tapping in number three.
Todd hailed Martin's impact, adding that City’s management rely on the entire squad to step up when required.
“Elliana’s been frustrated, it’s been a bit stop and start coming back from injury. But she’s worked so hard and has been patient," said the assistant head coach.
“Her work rate off the ball can create real problems for the defence, and that continues to make the squad competitive. We want the whole squad to be competitive.
“We need everyone to be on it, I think that’s really key. Injuries happen, et cetera, so it’s not about going ‘this is the eleven we want’ - it’s about what players we need in the moment, how we can utilise players when we need them.”
The suggestion of a dynamic starting line-up will please several players that have shown much promise despite getting limited minutes, with Martin one of the two changes Todd made to the side that left Peterborough frustrated in midweek.
Poppy Irvine was the other, coming in to replace Eva-Jean Young, and she also took advantage by making numerous saves and keeping her first clean sheet of the season - Norwich’s first for nine matches in all competitions.
Densley also gave her coaches plenty to think about, pressing for a fourth right until the last and finding the top right corner of the net with three minutes of regular time left.
It was the 13th goal that Norwich had scored in their last three cup outings and that cutting edge will be necessary to pick up further victories in the league in place of draws, of which Norwich’s five is the joint-highest in tier three.
City have nevertheless started to click at the right time, knowing that Carrow Road awaits them this weekend, when they take on mid-table outfit Liverpool Feds.
More than 4,000 turned out to watch them in NR1 last time out - when they thrashed Cambridge 6-1 as a level four side back in April - and another memorable win on the grass could see them rise as high as fifth in the WNL Northern Premier.
