Jürgen Klopp has explained his decision to bring Niclas Füllkrug back into the German national team.
Topping the Bundesliga scoring charts with nine goals in eight league appearances for Werder Bremen, West Ham loanee Niclas Füllkrug has earned his first Germany call-up in more than a year.
Speaking in an interview with DFB.tv (via iMiaSanMia), Germany head coach Jürgen Klopp explained his decision to include the 33-year-old striker in his squad.
“Fülle has performed very well during this period, scoring all kinds of goals – almost all of them spectacular, but in very different ways. He has had an incredible influence on Werder Bremen's play, not just through his goals, but also through the way he conducts himself on the pitch,” Klopp said.
"Of course, the experience he brings with him is a huge help in that regard. When you feel comfortable, when you feel at home, you can see what happens. He has that feeling of belonging that we generally want to give our players, even when we don't have them together very often."
Füllkrug last represented Germany in June 2025 and has scored 14 goals in 24 appearances for Die Nationalmannschaft.
