On Monday evening, his condition looked stable. On Tuesday morning, Tenerife said it had got worse, and Spanish media reported a neurological decline. A short time later, the club announced his death.
The club said it was heartbroken and could not believe the news. It said no words could ease the sadness and that it stood with his family and loved ones. The family thanked people for their support and asked for privacy.
De Miguel was born in Madrid on 21 September 1996. He joined Tenerife in the summer of 2025 from Castellón, after scoring 11 goals the season before. Spanish media report that he was married and had a daughter. The players’ union, AFE, said he sat on its board.
Gerard Piqué, who is president of FC Andorra, wrote that he felt it with all his soul and wished De Miguel peace. Barcelona and Real Madrid sent their condolences to his family, teammates and club.

No report so far says Owono will be charged, and no authority has announced an investigation. Football collisions are normally judged as sporting incidents. Criminal cases are rare and depend on proof of intent or serious recklessness. At this point, that question is open, and nothing should be assumed.
The club has not given a medical cause of death. Media link it to the collision, but a formal finding has not been published. The exact nature of the contact is also disputed.
