Tottenham Hotspur made it three league wins in a row at the weekend as they comfortably beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in north London.
With the Eagles down to 10-men following Jean-Philippe Mateta's red card in the first half, Roberto De Zerbi's side suffocated the away team at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke ensured victory for Spurs, who could have scored a handful more.
With the visitors penned in to their own half, Tottenham recorded nearly 90 per cent possession and wracked up an expected goals (xG) of 3.47. They had 34 shots to Palace's two, with nine of those on target.
Interestingly, Spurs actually broke two records during the victory. The home side completed 759 accurate passes - the most they have ever managed in a Premier League game. Amazingly, Spurs recorded a passing accuracy of 93.12 per cent on Saturday, which was a new record high for the club in the top flight.

Tottenham's previous record for the most passes completed in a Premier League fixture was 747, when the Lilywhites beat Cardiff City 3-0 on January 1, 2019. And the previous record for highest passing accuracy in a Premier League game was 93.01 per cent, set earlier this season in the draw with Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After the win over Palace, De Zerbi spoke about how the new-look squad now being a team has contributed to the turnaround in form. A trip to Marbella last month has been the catalyst for this form and after £380million was committed on 10 new signings this summer by majority owners the Lewis family, De Zerbi believes Tottenham are finally getting their rewards.
“I think even before the national break we were playing well,” De Zerbi said. "We were playing maybe not 90 minutes, but many parts of the game we played very well. We didn’t score. We conceded a stupid goal and then we lost energy. We lost spirit. We lost the right union between the players.
“If we compare Tottenham before the national break and Tottenham after the national break, now we are playing as a team. Before the national break we were playing as many very good players, but not as a team.”
