Arsenal Track £42m Striker After European Surge: Should Arteta Make A Move?

Arsenal transfer news: The Gunners have started their Premier League title defence strongly, with Mikel Arteta’s side collecting 21 points from eight matches before their latest trip to Anfield. Their 1-0 victory over Liverpool on November 1 strengthened their position at the top, while Kai Havertz’s winning goal offered another reminder of his value in the forward line.

Arteta already has Viktor Gyökeres leading the attack, with Havertz providing another option through the middle. The summer arrivals also strengthened the squad, although Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli both departed. With Premier League and Champions League demands placing considerable pressure on the forwards, Arsenal must keep assessing their depth rather than wait for a problem to emerge.

That recruitment question has become more relevant as another young striker attracts attention in Europe. Football Insider, citing reports also carried by Sky Germany and CaughtOffside, has been linked to claims of Arsenal interest in Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi, whose valuation has reportedly reached £42 million.

The 21-year-old has made an impressive start to the 2026/27 campaign, scoring eight goals in 10 Belgian Pro League appearances and four more in three Champions League matches. His hat-trick against Inter Milan has added to the attention surrounding him. Club Brugge, however, would prefer to keep the striker until the summer, while his contract runs until 2029, making a January move unlikely.

Arsenal transfer news: Should Arsenal pursue Tresoldi despite having Gyökeres and Havertz?

Tresoldi offers qualities that could suit Arteta’s approach. His movement and aerial ability give Arsenal another option against deep defensive blocks, while his reported top speed of 33.7 km/h and willingness to press could help the team win possession higher up the pitch.

Still, a £42 million fee demands careful thought. Gyökeres remains the main centre-forward, and Havertz contributes through his movement and link-up play. Tresoldi would need to accept a developmental role rather than expect regular starts.

Arsenal should keep monitoring his progress, particularly after his European performances, but they have no reason to force a January deal. Club Brugge hold a strong contractual position, and competing clubs could push the price higher. The Gunners should pursue him only if their recruitment team sees a clear long-term role that justifies the fee, rather than paying a premium for potential while two established forwards already occupy the central positions.
