It follows the departure of manager Andy Woodman from the Ravens.
Bromley, who are second bottom in the third tier, say Woodman is leaving with immediate effect "following the mutual termination of his contract."
Webster, who retired from playing in the summer, "will be taking charge of all first team affairs on an interim basis whilst the club appoint a permanent replacement", Bromley said in a statement.
Woodman's departure brings to an end his historic spell at the Hayes Lane club, the manager having been in charge since 2021 and led Bromley into the EFL for the first time.
After winning the FA Trophy in 2022, he guided the Ravens to victory in the 2024 National League play-offs - and then two years later oversaw promotion from League Two to League One.

Bromley sit 23rd with eight points from ten games.
Owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves said: "I would firstly like to offer my sincere thanks to Andy for all he has achieved during his time with us.
“It's no surprise that this club has reached new heights and Andy has been fundamental in helping us achieve that.
"I would like to reassure our supporters that we will be entering this new chapter with the same ambition and determination to keep moving this football club forward.
“On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future."
Webster, who was on Carlisle's books in the 2019/20 season, went on to spend the next six years with Bromley before hanging up his boots at the end of last season.
He will take charge for the first time when Bromley face Peterborough United on Saturday.
